Deals are where you organize and execute transactions.

 

You can access Deals from the sidebar.




Create a Deal

 


There are two ways to create a Workspace:

  1. Using the "Create New" button in the top bar
  2. Using the "+ Add Deal" button in the main pane of the Deals page


SET UP YOUR NEW DEAL




On the New Workspace page, you will see fields for:

  1. Project Name
  2. Client Firm
  3. Owners
  4. Transaction Types
  5. Client Stage
  6. Client Industry
  7. Description
  8. Engagement Start Date
  9. Engagement End Date
  10. Deal Status
  11. Fees
  12. Any custom fields that you may create for Deals


Once you have filled out these fields, click the Save button.  The Deal will load in the main pane and a new Deal will appear in the sidebar.


INVITE YOUR DEAL TEAM



Once you have created a Deal, you will want to invite your deal team members to the Deal so that they can easily access and contribute to the project.

 

To add a colleague to your deal team, go to the Overview tab of your Deal and click the pencil button on the Deal Team tile. Enter your colleague's email address or Name and select your colleague from the drop-down menu or click "Invite."






Target List / Buyers List


Within a Deal, the Target List is where you and your team will manage and track all of your interactions with potential targets, buyers or investors.




ADD TARGETS TO YOUR TARGET LIST


Click the blue plus sign at the top right of the Targets List (or use the shortcut, Ctrl+Alt+B) to add a new target to a Target List. 



After clicking the blue plus sign, there are three ways to add targets to the target list:

  1. Add a target by company name
  2. Add a target by contact name or email address
  3. Import targets from another existing Target List


Import Targets from an existing Target List:

  1. Click the Click Here link to the right of "Want to import targets from an existing Target List?"
  2. Select the deal(s) you wish to import Targets from by checking the boxes
  3. Click Continue






CREATING AND EDITING A TARGET'S POINT(S) OF CONTACT

The Deal Team section, pictured below, shows the individual contacts that you are engaging with for the Target firm.

To add contacts to the deal team of a specific target:

  1. Click the "edit" link next to the "Deal Team" title.
  2. Begin typing the contacts name or email address
  3. Select the contact from the autocomplete or click "Create New Contact"


To remove contacts from the deal team of a specific target:

  1. Click the "edit" link next to the "Deal Team" title.
  2. Click on the "X" next to the contact you wish to remove

To edit a contact within a target's a deal team:
  1. Click the "edit" link next to the "Deal Team" title.
  2. Click on the pencil button next to the contact you wish to edit
  3. Edit the contact fields
  4. Scroll down and click "Save"

LOGGING AN ACTIVITY ON THE TARGET LIST




To log an activity on the Target List:

  1. Click the "add" link next to the "Activity Log" title
  2. Select an activity category from the resulting popup window
  3. Provide additional details for the activity
  4. Click "Save"

MAKING A COMMENT ON A TARGET


Comments are a great way to record additional details and feedback with respect to a potential target when executing a transaction process.  To create a comment on a target, click into the comment field, type your comment and hit "Enter" on your keyboard.

SEARCHING AND FILTERING A TARGET LIST



To search a target list:
  1. Click on the target list search field in the top left of the target list
  2. Begin typing the contact or company name that you are searching for
  3. Select the contact or company from the autocomplete results


Additionally, you can filter a target list using the  "Show" and "Activity Filter" drop-down menus to the right of the target list search field.

Use the "Show" filter to display or hide targets with specific tier, status or target type designations, which may be defined for each target when you create or edit it.  For example, the selection below will filter the target list to only show Tier 1, Active, Financial targets.



Use the "Activity Filter" to display targets that meet certain activity criteria.  Click any activity criteria once to display targets that have completed that activity (will display green), and click any activity twice to display targets that have not completed that activity (will display red).  Use multiple criteria selections to create an "and" statement between the various selected activities.  For example, the filter below will display targers who have executed the NDA and have not received the CIM. Now you know which targets you need to send the CIM to.



The "Show" and "Activity Filter" drop-downs menus may be used in combination with each other.

Clear applied filters by clicking the "Clear Filters" link below the target list search field.


EXPORT A TARGET LIST TO EXCEL

To export a target list to excel, click the green "Export to Excel" button below the target list search field.
